Project Overview
All About Fauvism is a fan website concept aimed at creating an educational hub for enthusiasts of the Fauvist art movement.  As the web designer, I was responsible for defining the website’s visual aesthetic, developing a detailed sitemap, and creating responsive page designs. My goal was to design a visually engaging and user-friendly site that could provide comprehensive information about Fauvism artists, artworks, and related contemporary content like blog posts, news, and event updates. Although the website was not developed, the design phase provided a valuable opportunity to showcase my skills in web design and UX strategy.

Design Process

Problem Statement
The All About Fauvism project aims to create a centralized, user-friendly platform for Fauvism enthusiasts to explore and learn about the movement. The challenge is to design a visually engaging and responsive website that serves as an educational hub while fostering a sense of community for art lovers.
Sitemap
I designed the sitemap for All About Fauvism to ensure easy navigation and access to key content. The main sections include About, Artists, Gallery, Post, and Contact. Each section guides users to relevant information like artist profiles, featured artworks, blog posts, and events, while the Contact page connects them to our social media and contact form.
Logo Design
The logo I designed for the All About Fauvism website is centered around the letter "F," representing the first letter of the Fauvism movement. The choice of bold, contrasting, and gradient colors reflects Fauvism's core principles of emotional impact and color experimentation. I want the design to capture the essence of Fauvism while giving the website a visually appealing identity.
Style Guide
The style guide will ensure consistency across the website. I selected Playfair Display and Source Sans Pro as the font pairing for the All About Fauvism website. Playfair Display is used for headings to evoke a sense of elegance and tradition, which reflects the classic nature of the Fauvism movement. For body text, I chose Source Sans Pro to ensure readability and offer a modern, contemporary feel. Together, these fonts create a balanced and visually engaging experience, aligning with the site’s goal to be both educational and aesthetically pleasing.
Grid Setup
At the beginning of the design, I set up responsive grids for both mobile and desktop. The desktop design uses a 12-column grid (1280px width) to allow flexibility in organizing content, while the mobile version uses a 6-column grid (375px width) to optimize readability and flow on smaller screens.
Wireframe
I focused on establishing the core layout and structure when designing the wireframes.

For the desktop, there is a clear hierarchy, allowing users to easily navigate through different pages. The desktop version uses a 12-column grid, ensuring that content is well-spaced and visually balanced.

For mobile, the wireframes mainly focus on simplicity and accessibility, adapting the structure to a 6-column grid to suit smaller screens.

Reflections

This project was a personal exploration of creativity, inspired by my mother’s love for the Fauvism art movement. Designing a website dedicated to Fauvism allowed me to envision a space where art enthusiasts could connect, learn, and share their appreciation for this bold and expressive style. I wanted to create a platform that would not only be educational but also visually engaging, reflecting the vibrancy of Fauvist art.

On the technical side, I focused on building a responsive design that works seamlessly across desktop and mobile devices. This project helped me refine my skills in layout design, information architecture, and user experience. While it remains in the design phase, I’m eager for the opportunity to fully develop it into a custom-made website for art lovers.
